OCA Pace Camp

It gives me a great pleasue to announce that OCA has arranged for a Pace Bowling Camp here in Toronto, for the weekend of June 19th and 20th, 2010.

We have been fortunate to enlist the services of Mr. Andy Pick, former National Coach of Canada and a very well known pace bowler from England. These two qualities make him an ideal candidate to run a much needed pace camp, for the further development of Cricket in Ontario and hence Canada.

Andy will work to improve the skills of current young pace bowling prospects and help them take their cricketing abilities to the next level, with special emphesis on the mental aspect of the pace bowling.

Rizwan Cheema Interview

Checkout the link below for a video interview with Rizwan Cheema before he left to Sri Lanka for the preparation camp for the T20 Worldcup qualifier.

This is also a great way to introduce the cricket community to Mr Murtaza Malik and his cricket blog site. Mr Malik has started this blog as a way of promoting the game of cricket in Canada and to bring international awareness and exposure to our players. In his own words;

"Basically, the reason I've started this blog is to bring more media attention to cricket in Canada. We have some great players like Rizwan Cheema, Khurram Chohan, Umar Bhatti, Ashish Bagai and others that are making noise on the international scene, but we still struggle to attract 'main-stream' media coverage within Canada.

I figured someone within the cricket community should step up and get to work, so I put my hand up and contacted Cricket Canada to get involved.

I launched the Cricket Canada Fan page on Facebook (http://facebook.com/GoCricketCanada) and within a month we're already up to 440 fans. My site has already attracted links from cricket blogs in Australia and England, and I've had over 4,000 hits in 2 months. I even had Lalit Modi comment on the inclusion of Canadian players in the IPL draft.

I will continue to use the power of the 'net and social media sites to get our voices heard. Hopefully, the coverage from my site will help attract more sponsors and more main stream coverage of our leagues and players".

Be sure to bookmark the blog site and visit often for the latest in Canadian cricket. The link is http://CanadaCricketHQ.com.
