Six-A-Side
|
The weather was clear but it was raining lots of sixes at Rideau Hall which hosted the annual Six-A-Side tournament on Sunday, Aug 29. Ottawa CC were the champs who beat a spirited OVCC Juniors cricket club who had earlier won 3 out of their 4 games to qualify for the final. The Ottawa CC banked on a team effort led by Tharundu Nanayakkara in batting. Themiya led the Juniors with some big hitting including a half-century against Canterbury where they chased down a formidable 82 in an exciting game. Ejaz Chaudhary from Canterbury was the other batting star of the day.
Among the highlights were three 30 plus run overs bowled including one which yielded 36 runs. Ranjit from Nepean also had the distinction of bolwing a one run over. The highest total of the day was registered by Canterbury who scored 91 against the Burghs.
