The Ottawa Valley Cricket Council (a.k.a. OVCC) is the national-capital's regional cricket body and represents over 350 players in eight local sides plus Kingston, Ontario. The league consists of players from all continents including local born Canadians through to players from Australia, England, South Africa, the Caribbean, India and Pakistan to name just a few. OVCC was established in 1923 subsequent to the formation of a fourth cricket team playing at Rideau Hall in Vanier, Ontario. Since then, the league has expanded to include clubs playing at locations in South Ottawa (Lynda Lane), Barrhaven and Kingston.

2008-07-07 White Ball. Is it good or bad for cricket in Ottawa ?
Negatives--- My personal observations as a medium pace bowler of the white ball are that it is hard to shine it even after the first over and as a result more difficult to swing than the Red Kookaburra. The bowlers must rely on very accurate line & length especially in the Twenty-20. The absence of true shine on the ball is a distinct disadvantage to the bowlers. Positives---The ball seems to travel faster on the ground and as a result more boundaries are being hit. Since the bowl doesn not swing as much, the batsmen are finding it easier to bat. Overall---We have had significantly more 200+ scores already this year than at this stage last year and more centurions. Even though I am a bowler, its nice to see a few boundaries being hit. The batsmen have it hard enough with the slow outfields. The white ball has made the game more neutral and certainly more entertaining. What do you think ? Send me your comments at nakul_nayyar@hotmail.com and I will compile them into a summary.
2008-07-04 First TIE in Twenty-20 in OVCC
'Burghs & Defence Twenty-20 encounter ends in a BOWL-OUT 'Burghs 151/6 (20 overs, Shailesh Masih 45 Pankaj Srichand 39 ) Def 151 All out (19.3 overs, Adil 50) Def were 151 for 8 at the start of the 20th over bowled by Pankaj. What followed was a dot ball, Angad Singh stumped and the last wicket caught by Shailesh showing great reflexes at short leg. This completed a remarkable comeback for "Burghs who were on the backfoot for the majority of the game after DECC chased aggressively. The first Bowl-Out in OVCC was then won by Def 1-0 after only Dilawar Ahmedzai of DECC managed to hit the stumps. Adil & Pankaj were declared joint MOMs.
