HDCL 2011 Premier Division Champion
|
Congratulations to Hamilton Cricket Club on winning 2011 HDCL Premier Division Championship. Hamilton Crickt Club defeated hot favorite and 1st place Mississauga Ramblers Cricket Cub in final by 4 wickets capping of a wonderful season for the club that bagged HDCL T-20 Championship earlier in the seaon while their B team finsihed runner up in 2nd Division title.
Mississauga elected to bat first on winning the toss and got off to a flyer with 41 without loss in 5 overs. But introduction of Arbab Amjad brought about change of fortunes for Hamilton CC as he first removed opener Travin Yousuf and then took a brilliant catch to dismiss Sandip Jyoti off the bowling of Damier Holder. Arbab took 6 wickets for 18 runs to reduce Ramblers to 61 for 8 before Waseem Khtana and young Talha Kirmani put on 42 runs for 9th wicket to take Mississauga to 112 all out in 23 overs.
Chasing an easy target of 113 Hamilton lost 3 quick wickets to set up an exciting finish to the final but opener Ayaaz Ali and Saad Azim batted very responsibly without taking any risk to take Hamilton close to victory. As things were going for a one sided finish, Hamilton lost Saad Azim and two more quick wickets raised hope for Mississauga again but Ayaaz Ali took upon his shoulders to take Hamilton past the finishing line and remained not out with well made 61. For Mississauga Ramblers skipper Pankaj Gupta took three wickets.

CLARIFICATION
|
|
HDCL executives would like to clarify the selection policy and criteria for selection of players for upcoming Ontario Senior T-20 Championship and Ontario Team for games against Quebec.
HDCL have never forced players from our member clubs to play only in HDCL and will follow the same principle in future as well as we believe players are free to play anywhere they prefer and it is personal choice of players and clubs. We continue to work hard to raise the standard of HDCL league cricket so that there is no need for players to go anywhere else to play cricket. For the same very reason, we welcome players from other leagues to come and play on our member club teams.
To be fair to our member clubs and bonafied players, HDCL Selection Committiee will only be picking players for upcoming events from those players who have performed and excelled in HDCL 2010 & 2011 season. In order to qualify for selection to Ontario team, participation in provincial and Inter-league competetions is a must.

Unauthorized use of HDCL Name & Logo
|
To All Member Clubs and Players of HDCL
It has been brought to the attention of HDCL executives that Ontario Cricket Association (OCA) used HDCL name and Logo to misrepresent HDCL as one of the participants at recentlly held RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) sponsored unauthorized Cricket event.
Hereby with this notice, HDCL executives, categorically and strongly, condemn the use of registered name of HDCL and its Logo. As you are all aware that due to unconstitutional operation , non-accountability of funds and failure to maintain its status as provincial body in Ontario, HDCL had withdrawn its membership from OCA and had applied for membership and have been accepted to Cricket Council of Ontario, the official provincial (Ontario) governing body as recognized by Cricket Canada.
HDCL executives are seeking legal opinion to take legal action as we need to protect the name and image of our league, one of the oldest and historical leagues in Canada. In the meantime, all member clubs are requested to inform their players to only participate in HDCL league, Cricket Council of Ontario (CCO) and Cricket Canada authorized Cricket games and events.
