St. Catharines won the toss and opened batting with Ali Hafeez and Virender who formed an opening partnership of 35 runs. After loss of 2 other quick wickets of Mohammed Koya (14) and Ahmed Habib (0), Skipper Elyas Karim and Iqbal Seta went onto the crease and moved the score upto 104 for 4. However, the fireworks when Zia Sarwar joined Iqbal were absolutely magnificent. Zia, scoring his first century of the season brought the total score past 250 forming a solid and record 6 wicket partnership of 132 runs with Iqbal Seta. STC were 287 for 7 at the end of 40th over. In reply, Stoney Creek CC lost quick wickets in regular intervals and managed to score 121 runs. Raj Heer (38) and Raman Mandar (26) batted well in the middle order. Aqeel Raja from STC taking 3 wickets for 30 runs in his spell was the most successful bowler.
