ICC Intercontinental Cup Day 3 - Canada vs. Afghanistan

Resuming at 21-4 over night, Canada would have hoped for a positive start to day 3 after day 2 was washed out. Unfortunately for Canada it was not to be as nightwatchman Harvir Baidwan (8) fell after a 23 run partnership with Zeeshan Siddiqui.

Siddiqui on debut seemed unperturbed by what was happening around him and continued to shine on debut reaching his half century and giving the smattering of Canadian fans around the ground.

While Siddiqui (52) and Henry Osinde (14) were still at the crease there was a chance that Canada could avoid a follow-on but as Siddiqui departed, Osinde soon followed and Canada were all out for 130.

Being asked to follow on did seem to fire up the Canadian batsmen as they came out blazing at almost 6 runs per over, however wickets continued to tumble and Canada were struggling at 52-4. A partnership between Siddiqui (23) and Zubin Surkari (35) seemed to hold off the Afghan assault but both parted in quick succession leaving Canada far adrift of making the Afghans bat again.

Hamza Tariq ensured the Afghan's would bat again as he scored his maiden first class century finally pulling Canada into the lead as he put on 81 runs with Harvir Baidwan (29*). Tariq perished just before close leaving Baidwan and Khurram Chohan with much to do tomorrow.

Hamid Hassan (7-61, and 3-24) was the pick of the Afghan bowlers and seems destined for a man of the match award tomorrow.

Canada u19 vs. Nepal u19

Canada slugged out a dramatic 3 wicket victory over Nepal in the 5th round of the ICC u19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Ireland.

At Bready Cricket Club, Nepal was bowled out by Canada for 106 in 42.5 overs with only wicketkeeper Pradeep Airee making 22. But Nepal?s bowlers made Canada earn every run in the chase as wickets at regular intervals. Kyle Edghill made an unbeaten 52 off 133 balls with three boundaries to guide Canada home with 10 balls to spare.

Edghill?s effort earned him the Man of the Match award. Edghill praised Nepal?s bowlers for making things difficult in the chase: ?I had to take my time to steady the innings. All the credit to the Nepal bowlers for keeping it tight. We had to work hard to get those runs. My plan was to just stay there and bat as long as possible without losing concentration. This win does a lot to boost the morale of the side and we can now take it to the next game as well.??

Keasavan Juvarajan and Trevor Manoosingh took 3 wickets each contributing to Canada's cause.

Canada vs. Afghanistan

Reigning ICC Intercontinental Cup champions Afghanistan takes on hosts Canada in the third match of the new season starting tomorrow (Tuesday 2 August 2011) in Toronto.

Afghanistan won the final of the competition last year after beating Scotland and the side will be hoping for a strong performance away from home to begin the competition on the right foot and walk away with full points.

Having never won the tournament, Canada will want to make sure it starts positively and begin this year?s season with a victory on home soil.

Afghanistan fast bowler Hamid Hassan, who was the leading wicket-taker in the last tournament with 43 scalps, is confident ahead of the team?s first four-day fixture of the season.

?We?ve played some domestic three-day games in Pakistan and also in Sri Lanka ahead of this first fixture and we?ve been very focused so I hope we take what we?ve learnt with us to Canada for our first match of this competition.

?When we first started playing four-day cricket it took us time to embrace it but now we enjoy it a lot, especially in the last tournament, so hopefully we can enjoy it again this time.

?I?ve never been Canada but we?ve been told the weather will be good and hopefully the wickets will seam around so I?m able to be effective with the ball,? concluded Hamid.

Meanwhile, Canada?s side features some young blood, joining the old guard, with new captain Jimmy Hansra at the helm, who has taken over from fellow squad member Ashish Bagai, who recently relinquished the captaincy that he had held for two years.

The team features a number of young players, including Hiral Patel, while newly appointed skipper Hansra is confident his side can do well: ?We?re a fairly young team and we?re going to be taking what we learnt at the 50-over ICC Cricket World Cup and try to translate that into the four-day competition we?re about to start playing.

?It?s good that we?ve got a three year window for this tournament and it?s good for us to start against the current champions, Afghanistan.

?It?s nice to have a stronger team upfront as it will help us know where we stand and it should help us to prepare for the tournament and the youngsters are ready to go and we?re ready to put up a good show.

?Hiral Patel and Ruvindu Gunasekera are two good youngsters coming in from our domestic cricket, who also featured at the World Cup, and we?ve good bowlers who will need to help us for this tournament.

?Afghanistan is an experienced side whereas we?re young and we?re trying to bring the passion for Canada and cricket together for this tournament but I feel with a three-year window to play these fixtures we will continue to improve no matter what happens with this first game,? added Hansra.

Canada u19 vs. Vanuatu u19

Canada has defeated Vanuatu in convincing fashion to move to 2-1 at the ICC u19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Ireland.

Vanuatu batted first and could not muster much resistance to the Canadian bowling as Manny Aulakh (3-11) led the way for Canada?s bowler. Captain Keasavan Juvarajan (3-49), Rayyan Pathan (1-21), Nitish Kumar (1-34), and Nikhil Dutta (1-16), chipped in with wickets as only 3 Vanuatu batsmen reached double figures. Vanuatu?s total was helped by 35 extras bowled by the Canadians in the field.

It was then left to Canada opener Nitish Kumar to continue his good form with the bat. Kumar made a brisk 48-ball 61 with seven boundaries and two sixes to help Canada overhaul the target in just 25.3 overs.

Kumar was yet again named the Man of the Match and was happy with the effort. ?This pitch was flatter than the previous one. There was a bit of turn, but overall it came on to the bat very nicely. All credit to our bowlers for their spells. This win is a big boost to the team. We are now back on track. Everyone?s positive about it and the mood is great in the camp.

Canada has a game of massive importance tomorrow against Namibia.

Steely Canada hold off Scotland Charge

Nitish Kumar announced his intentions in the best of ways as the stylish batsmen scored an unbeaten century to lead Canada to a massive total of 212 from 35 overs.

Kumar (100) and Akash Shah (11) shared an opening stand of 50 runs as Canada looked to set a solid target in the rain reduced match. Two quick wickets pegged Canada back to 62-2 before Kumar and Kyle Edgehill (36) shared a 78 run 3rd wicket stand to stabalize the batting before Rayyan Pathan (42* in 24 balls) battered the Scotland bowling to carry Canada over the 200 mark.

Kumar reached his century with 3 balls to go as Pathan's onslaught carried Canada to 212.

Despite the massive total, Scotland were not intimidated and set about the chase positively. Jobanjot Sidhu (4-39) was the pick of Canada's bowlers but Scotland's batsmen continued to score quickly, passing 100 in 15 overs. Aman Bailwal (63) led the late overs charge but fell in the 34th over as the last 4 wickets tumbled for 23 runs in 4 overs. Scotland moved to 206 before Peter Legget holed out to Aklas Umar to end the game.

Canada moves to 1-0 and looks to go 2-0 tomorrow against Kenya.

Champions!

Canada made it a clean sweep at the ICC America's T20 Championships in Florida on Saturday brushing aside a spirited Suriname team.

Showing no let down after defeating the USA in a big match on Friday, Canada ammassed a total of 138-4 led by a brilliant batting display by Khushroo Wadia (75*). Wadia and Parveen Saroye (35) put on 87 runs for the second wicket to set the stage for the match winning total.

In reply, Suriname were never able to get going, Satsmaranjit Dhindsa (2-8) set them back and a chase never really materialized. Suriname ended the match on 77-7 in 20 overs.

Canada were by far the class of the tournament and while not much was known about the young squad that went to the tournament, the depth of talent right across the country was showcased this week in Florida.

CRICKET...CANADA'S GAME

The oldest rivalry in the history of international sports continued today as Canada and the USA took the field at the ICC America's T20 Championship in Florida.

Both teams were 3-0 heading into the game and the team of upstart Canadian's were keen to impose their mark on the tournament. Having lost this title last year in a lobsided final, Canada had revenge on its mind heading into Friday's clash and showed initative by winning the toss and putting themselves into bat.

Khushroo Wadia (56*) got Canada off to a lighting start in the game and with Jason Sandher (23), Canada were well placed for a large total. USA fought their way back into the game with a dogged effort from their spinners. None of the Canadian batsmen after 3 hit double figures and the target was a gettable 131.

USA got off to a quick start with Sushil Nadkani leading the way. Jimmy Hansra brought himself into the attack to stem the tide and the pressure began to mount on the USA. All the bowlers found themselves in the wickets and with the asking rate rising about 8, USA struggled to keep pace. Zahid Hussain held his nerves bowling the 20th over and Canada won by 10 runs.

Though not out of the woods yet, Canada's youngsters are now alone in first place with a match against last place Suriname to secure the title.

The win against a favoured American side, playing at home, was a shot in the arm for a Canadian team without many of its top players and puts Canada in place to obtain the final ICC America's trophy missing from the trophy cabinet.

President Ranjit Saini was proud of the team saying at the conclusion of the match.

Though we still have one more game to play, we are pleased with the team and our rookie captain. It just proves the point that we have been making all along. "Cricket in North America is Canada's Game". Cricket has survived and grown here despite harsh winters, short summers, a huge country and being away from major cricket centers.

The future is promising and we will take care of it in our own way. The Canadian way...respect for our differences, finding middle ways, being innovative and live within our means."

Canada takes on Suriname tomorrow.

Hansra Upbeat Heading in Friday's Clash

On Friday, Canada will take on USA in the fourth match of the ICC America's T20 Tournament. On form, the match will be a defacto championship match between the two top teams in the tournament.

The young side that Canada sent to the tournament has hit their mark very quickly and Jimmy Hansra, who with Hamza Tariq, are the lone representatives from the World Cup side has led from the front to help his team to a 3-0 record.

For his part, Hansra is pleased so far with the performance of his team.

"The young squad is progressing nicely. They are sticking together outside the games and really have found a bond with each other. I wanted to ensure the unity is present, so we have been having breakfast, lunch and dinner together as a team. On our day off, all of us spend the whole day together at south beach. The atmosphere is very friendly and players are expressing themselves freely which is also helping them give their best when they play."

When asked about heading into a match against a more experienced USA team who are playing at home, Hansra was upbeat about his team's chances

"This group is hungry for wins and I highly believe they are focused regardless their opposition. Playing for their Country has been taken for granted before at times but this young group is competitive and pride themselves in winning for their Country. Our goal is come back undefeated and we have two more games to accomplish just that. "

Dissapointment Over T20 Cull

The ICC's decision to slash minnows' representation at the next two World Twenty20 tournaments has sparked outrage among Associate and Affiliate nations, who - after a heated and emotional meeting on Wednesday - have decided to lodge a formal protest at Thursday's full council. The logic of the ICC's decision is further undermined by the fact that the qualification process for the World Twenty20 is already underway - but will now be for just two spots instead of six.

The ICC has given an indication that cost and overall structure were key factors in making this decision.

Associates Back in the World Cup

The International Cricket Council has reversed its decision to exclude associates from the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The format and timing of the qualification tournament is still to be decided but it is expected that it will follow the format used in 2009 where Canada finished second in South Africa. The decision ensures that Canada will have a chance to qualify for what would be their fifth cricket world cup and fourth in succession. Canada previously played in 1979, 2003, 2007 and 2011.

The ICC has also decided to return the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2014 to the format used in 2010 which includes 12 teams of which 2 will be associates.

Associates Given World Cup Lifeline

The Decision Review System may have grabbed all attention in the first half of the ICC's annual conference in Hong Kong, but June 28 will belong to the little guys: the ICC's Executive Board will revisit its widely condemned decision to shut the doors for the 2015 World Cup on the Associate nations. On Monday, the Chief Executives' Committee recommended to the Board a qualification tournament for 2015, without specifying the number of slots open to the Associates.

Namibia vs. Ireland

The ICC Intercontinental Cup match due to start between Ireland and Namibia in Belfast tomorrow will not go ahead as planned.

Cricket Namibia failed to arrive in time to play the match citing difficulties in securing UK travel visas for its squad members. It is still hoped that the two 50-over international matches will go ahead as planned provided the Namibia team arrives in time for those fixtures.

As previously stated, while the ICC offers assistance where it can, it is the responsibility of each team?s home board to arrange its own visas in advance of any tour.

Following due consideration and consultation, the ICC has given the two participating home boards the opportunity to propose an amicable agreement as to how best to deal with the I Cup fixture and any other relevant matters.

2010 Audited Financial Statements

Cricket Canada is pleased to release copies of its 2010 Audited Financial Statements. The statement was approved by the Board of Directors at the May Annual General Meeting as was prepared by Cricket Canada's Auditors Arun Luthra Corporation.

2010 saw a decrease in revenue for Cricket Canada as ICC Funding related to tournaments dropped against 2009 numbers due to the hosting of the 2009 u19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier (approximately $490,000). This was reflected in the expenditures as well.

Overall much of the 2010 expenditure was focused on preparing the senior men's team for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Cricket Canada also hosted the senior men's national championships, the Cricket Canada Summer Festival as well as the ODI and ICUP series against Ireland.

Bagai Stands Down as Skipper

Ashish Bagai has stepped down as Captain of Canada's Senior Men's team.

In what was considered a major coup for Cricket Canada in 2009, Bagai left a career as a banker in London, England to take over Canada's captaincy. His presence behind the stumps and in the middle order led to the teams turn around on the field and ultimately pushed the team into the 2011 Cricket World Cup. Bagai was Canada's best batsmen since his return in 2009 and it was at the 2011 Cricket World Cup where he really shone. Earning sharp praise for his presence behind the stumps, Bagai was one of the most watched faces in the tournament staring both on and off the field.

In a letter to Cricket Canada's board, Bagai said "After a long thought-out evaluation and careful consideration, I have decided to step down as Captain of the Canadian National Cricket Team. It has been an honour to Captain my country in the sport I love and I thank everyone in this organization who helped and supported me throughout my term including administrators, coaches, managers and most of all, the players. I undertook each task over the last two years with the primary objective of moving not just the team but the entire organization forward. I have always had a passion for Canadian cricket and did what I thought would benefit the team and organization in my opinion.

It has been a great learning experience for me and I wish the next Captain all the best in leading the team forward."

Cricket Canada president Ranjit Saini thanked Bagai for his contributions.

"Cricket Canada thanks Ashish for his outstanding contribution to Canadian cricket at a time when circumstances were difficult and challenging. I wish him well for a bright and prosperous future and look forward to his continued contribution as a player and strong supporter of Canadian cricket."

Though returning to his private life, Bagai has informed Cricket Canada of his desire to remain part of the set-up and will make himself available for selection.

Moorthy Steps Aside as HP Manager

Ravin Moorthy has stepped down as Cricket Canada's High Performance manager. Moorthy informed Cricket Canada of his decision shortly after the 2010 AGM in Montreal and takes effect immediately.

Moorthy has also relinquished the portfolio of High Performance Management whose duties will be assumed by Second Vice President Vimal Hardat. Cricket Canada will move shortly to fill the position of High Performance manager

President Ranjit Saini thanked Moorthy for his time in the role saying "...we are now on a planned path because you were there in times which tested our resolve and collective strength."

Moorthy took over the role late in 2008 with a team struggling both on and off the field. Over the next several months the declined slowed and the team qualified for the 2011 Cricket World Cup. The under 19 team also realized an upswing returning to the World Cup after a prolonged absence. Player contracts became a permanent part of the set up and a professionalized structure took hold. This was bolstered by new money from the ICC that would come in 2009 and pave the way to the senior team's recovery.

Said Moorthy "This was a complete team effort and I would like to thank everyone who worked hard in their roles to make the High Performance program a success. I wish Vimal best of luck and see nothing but good things for the program going forward....I am looking forward to working on other projects in the organization where I feel we can make a difference and better the game across the country.

Ranjit Saini Remarks to Toronto City Council

Your Worship Mayor Rob Ford, Members of the Toronto City Council, City Staff, distinguished guests, sponsors of the Cricket Canada family. It is a moment of great pleasure and happiness to be present here after a most successful and proud performance of the Canadian Cricket team in a World Cup.

I want to thank all those who helped us to get there and perform at the level we did. At first I want to thank the athletes, coaches and the support staff for doing an excellent job and bringing pride and honour to Canada. I also want to thank the families of the athletes for making immense sacrifice in support of our common pursuit of cricket excellence.

There is group of people that are fundamental to the success of any sports organisation that reaches this level of competence and performance and this group is known as volunteers. Cricket Canada wishes to salute, thank and honour this distinguished group of people that have helped us grow and get there.

The challenges that faced Cricket Canada in achieving this success included very little support from governments and other stake holders. Our team doesn?t have a home ground to practice and train. Despite several years of humble requests and appeals, this objective remains elusive. Our team doesn?t have nets to practice, perhaps we were the only World Cup team that doesn?t have access to turf nets anywhere in the country. Our short summer season and distance from several key playing countries makes it even more difficult to train at equal level. But thanks to the spirit of the volunteers and the determination of the athletes, the dream is still alive and lives on.

I would like to take a few moments to thank our sponsors that have helped us getting where we are today. Notable among those who helped us where we are today were Scotiabank that were on board up to the qualifier, which paved a way to enter the World Cup. Thank you Scotiabank for your help and support! I want to thank Etihad Airways, Apollo Convention Centre, Teachers, Molson Canadian and Cutty Sark for supporting this dream. Above all, I want to thank Base Corporation from Bangaluru, India for supporting our team during the World Cup and truthfully speaking for bringing us out of the red in financial terms in the lead up to the World Cup. Thank you Base! I also want to thank CBC for their outstanding help in bringing Canadian Cricket to Canadians. I am happy to report that an equally important relationship with Rogers is beginning to come about.

The last group that needs to get appropriate recognition are our executives and directors. This is a group of people that get blamed for all ills in the society and they still continue and make tremendous sacrifices in supporting this mission.

Going forward Cricket Canada is committing itself to strengthen the Domestic Cricket so that our ability to produce higher performing athletes grows. Cricket Canada is currently working towards building a legendary annual event called ?Cricket Canada Summer Festival?, which will involve international cricket players, Canada?s image as a global village, an opportunity to explore Canada?s summer for tourists and something that will enhance our presence of a destination for tourist enthusiasts that love global culture.

We are looking forward to great cooperation from the City of Toronto in making our dreams happen.

Cricket Canada Statement on ICC Decision

Cricket Canada is disheartened to learn the International Cricket Council has elected to not allow Associate cricket nations such as Canada into the 2015 Cricket World Cup. While it is apparent that the push for a 10 team tournament supports the needs of the sponsors and broadcasters who ultimately fund much of our programs, we were very disappointed to learn that there would be no qualification process for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

From the results of the recently completed 2011 Cricket World Cup in the subcontinent, it is apparent that Associate nations are able to compete at the international level and need more encouragement to develop their high performance teams against the full member nations. Canadian players turned out strong performances in this world cup and the decision will surely mark the end of world cup careers for several of our players in the prime of their careers.

An additional disappointment will be players who gained experience at this world cup like 20 year old Hiral Patel. Hiral, who hit a blistering half century against defending champions Australia, will be closer to the end of his career by the time he gets a chance to compete in the games marquee event again. We have had significant interest and profile generated in Canadian cricket as a result of our participation in the world cup, and this increase in our sport would surely wane if we are not allowed to participate in the world cup for at eight years or more.

The ICC has pointed to the fact that the Twenty20 world cup has been expanded to include more associate and affiliate teams but as many of us know, while Twenty20 is a way to develop the commercial enterprise of the game it is not a way forward to develop the game itself in all its forms. This short-sighted decision also has far reaching effects as it will become more difficult to raise money from governments and corporate partners, both of who strive to be associated with the game at its highest level.

Cricket Canada proposes a conference of all stake holders be called to discuss the path forward for the associates and affiliates. It is important that representatives from all major groups including Full members, Associate Members and Affiliate Members attend this session and put forward their positions in an open and objective manner to arrive at a solution that is fair to all. Only by consulting all stakeholders can we arrive at an amicable solution.

Cricket Canada is very grateful for the overwhelming support that has been received from around the world regarding this decision and we are working with our associate and affiliate partners to bring about a satisfactory compromise. We encourage all followers of the game around the world to continue to lobby your local administrators as well as the ICC to reverse this tragic decision.

Bagai Dissapointed at ICC decision

Canada?s world cup captain Ashish Bagai is among many key figure in associate cricket that have condemned the ICC decision to remove associate nations such as Canada from competing in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Bagai was disappointed to know that his team would not get a chance to qualify for the 2015 event after a strong showing in India in 2011.

"This is a dark day in the world of not just cricket, but sport in general. Closing the door on a 100 countries to try and achieve their dream and play in the World Cup is a decision that is contradictory to the principles of sport. The World Cup is about athletes pushing their limits, achieving their potential and living a dream. It is about heroes being born and about celebrating the sport of cricket throughout the World. It is NOT about maximizing every penny. This decision lacks vision, is focused on short term financial gain and contradicts what sport stands for. It is disgusting."

Bagai comments follow strongly of his counterpart William Porterfield of Ireland who on Monday blasted the ICC decision on the 2015 World Cup.

Bagai continued. "Agreed we did not reach the quarters, but we came within 16 runs of beating England in the Warm-up game and bowled out Pakistan for 180, their lowest total of the competition. We witnessed a 19 year old Canadian demolish the Australian opening bowling attack in Bangalore. We had a 22 year old Canadian in the top 4 leading wicket takers in the tournament after the first round. Amongst the three fastest All-time World Cup hundreds, two of them are from the associate countries. These are all signs that we need more exposure not less. These are all indicators that there is something there for us to build on. Sure when you throw a pup into a dogfight, it will struggle. But throw him over and over again and it will grow and learn to fight."

Bagai pointed out that the lesser nations, can succeed given the time and opportunity to grow.

"All these teams started somewhere. Sri Lanka in the 70's was a minnow and played its first World Cup match in 1975. Imagine if the ICC was driven by financial incentives then and shunned Sri Lanka. The World would have missed out on legends like Aravinda, Murali, Mahela, Kumar etc. They would have missed out on the 96 World Champions. "

"This decision alone will significantly hurt the growth and development of the game around the World. ICC has a responsibility to govern cricket around the World, not in 10 countries. I hope ICC realizes the damage this will cause in the long run."

Canada stunned by ICC decision

Canada will have to watch the next Cricket World Cup from the sidelines.

The International Cricket Council confirmed Monday that the 2015 tournament will be contested by 10 teams, leaving Canada and the other ICC Associate nations on the sidelines.

The decision ? originally announced in October 2010 but contested in recent weeks by associate nations at the 2011 edition ? was ratified by the ICC's executive board meeting.

The news, while not totally unexpected, comes as a blow for countries like Canada looking to build the sport back home.

India are World Champions

Twenty-eight years on from the match that transformed the history of world cricket, India recaptured the crown that Kapil Dev and his men first lifted at Lord's in 1983, and this time they did in their very own back yard.

An iron-willed 97 from Gautam Gambhir was matched for intensity by the finest captain's innings since Ricky Ponting at Johannesburg eight years ago, as Mahendra Singh Dhoni trumped a poetic century from Mahela Jayawardene to pull off the highest run-chase ever achieved in a World Cup final.

Sri Lanka vs. India

India and Sri Lanka will contest the 10th World Cup Final on Friday as both teams attempt to become winners of cricket's marquee prize for the second time.

Sri Lanka fought by New Zealand on Tuesday to reach the final while India beat Pakistan in what may have been the most anticipated and most watched cricket match of all time.

The two finalists come from very different cricket histories.

India, the 1983 World Champions, have been a test nation since 1932 and have risen to become cricket's dominant economic and political power. The country boasts a booming economy with a thirst for cricket that has culminated in one of world sports most profitable enterprises, the IPL. Despite the successes, India has been unable to replicate the magic of 1983 and with icon Sachin Tendulkar reaching the end of an illustrious career, the pressure to deliver a title on his home ground will be immense.

Sri Lanka only achieved test status in 1982 and without ever winning a knockout match prior to 1996 advanced all the way to the finals to win the tournament. The win set about an explosion in the one day came and Sri Lanka have been top contenders since then reaching the semi finals in 2003 and the finals in 2007. Much is expected domestically from this team as they wouldl only be satisfied with another World Cup title.

Sri Lanka won the World Cup when Asia last hosted the tournament in 1996. The final was played in Lahore so India could be the first to win a title on home soil.

The tenth ICC Cricket World Cup final will be played at 5am eastern time on Saturday April 2, 2011. Contact your local satellite or cable provider for details.

Davison to Retire

Canada's iconic allrounder John Davison has annouced his retirement. Playing in his third and now final Cricket World Cup, Davison has informed Cricket Canada that the March 16th match against Australia will be his last international cricket match.

Best known for his then record breaking 111 vs. West Indies at the 2003 Cricket World Cup, Davison's exploits helped put Canadian cricket on the map when the sport was struggling for recognition both in Canada and around the world.

In the team's meeting prior to Wednesday's practice session at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, John announced to the team his intentions.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time playing for Canada. I learned a lot about dealing with different cultural mentalities and i think that has made me more tolerant in my life. The sport has an excellent future in the country centred around a young national team filled with talented young players, a burgeoning fan following, and an ever growing cricket playing population. I'm happy to have been part of the ride and have made some lifelong friendships along the way."

Canada's coach and former teammate Pubudu Dassanayake said on the eve of Davison's last game.

"He gave us a chance to win every time we took that field and took the game to the opposition, he brought on a new style of cricket for Canada...the exposure of our young players to his knowledge and experience has taught them how deal with competition at this level and this is Invaluable to the organization moving forward."

Davison ranks second all time in ODI runs for Canada and in addition to the world cup century in 2003 he has 5 half centuries with 2 coming in world cups against New Zealand. He is the third leading wicket taker in ODI's for Canada with 35 from 31 matches.

Cricket Canada's high performance manager Ravin Moorthy spoke about John Davison`s contribution to our countries game. "Canadian cricket will be linked forever to him, I don't think anyone will every forget that day at Centurion when he scored the 100, it gave us all hope and showed that a Canadian can succeed at the absolute highest level, that success is part of the platform of modern Canadian cricket...a generation of Canadian kids grew up wanting to be like JD...that`s a very special thing"

Canada's captain and 3 time CWC teammate Ashish Bagai, spoke of his good friend's retirement

"John has brought a professionalism, expectation, and self belief that propelled us as a team and organization to new heights. His performances on the biggest stage have laid the foundation for a new generation of Canadian cricketers to strive to achieve.

Bagai continued "I've enjoyed and learned much about the sport during 10 years that we played together, we shared in many great moments, and i wish him and his family the very best in his future endeavours"

John will return to Australia at the conclusion of Canada's group stage match vs Australia to his coaching role at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence and looks forward to spending more time with his young family and on the golf course.

Cricket Canada Vice President Vimal Hardat thanked John for his contribution and wished him well.

"Everyone across Canada thanks JD for all his efforts, the sacrifice and commitment to our game and our organization. We are happy to wish him and his young family all the best and much success in whatever they chose to do...he will always hold a special place in Canadian cricket

President Ranjit Saini concluded by summing up Davison`s international career.

`He came to us over a decade ago with the intent of doing something special. He always fought on the field to make us a better team and pull us together to move us forward. From the 2001 ICC Trophy he helped set the standard to make sure we were in every world cup and when it mattered his performances were always there. From the 17 wickets against USA to the 100 against West Indies to his performance in the 2009 World Cup Qualifier, we have been able to count on John he will be missed but not forgotten by us. His legacy will provide for us a template from which to develop our future cricketers with his tenacity and spirit.

Canada vs. New Zealand

Canada turned in their best and worst performance of the world cup so far in a loss to New Zealand on Sunday. To take a positive, it was another historic performance as the batsmen turned in Canada's highest ever score against a full member country putting up 261 runs against a strong New Zealand attack.

Unfortunately for the Canadians, the target they were chasing was much greater as New Zealand motored to an impressive 358 from 50 overs. While it was an exhibition of clean hitting by the Kiwi's it was also a poor display of fielding by the boys in red. Fighting hard for the first 35 overs, Canada lost to plot putting down catches and looking sloppy in the field, the Canadian's let the Kiwi's off the hook enroute to a big total.

In reply Canada again lost early wickets but were finally helped out by an opener scoring runs. Hiral Patel delighted the crowd scoring 31 before falling victim to UDRS which found him edging one to the keeper. Ashish Bagai (84) and Jimmy Hansra (70*) both struck centuries under tough conditions as both players cramped up during their innings. Bagai did his best to keep up the asking rate and make a push for the win but fell going for extra runs. Khurram Chohan (22*) led the way for the tail but ultimately the target was too much for Canada to chase.

Canada move on to Bangalore where they take on Australia in 3 days time.

Canada vs. Pakistan - Preview

Canada looks to play spoiler against top of the table Pakistan in the third match for each team at the 2011 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka.

The Story:

While it is not surprising that Canada have started the world cup 0-2, many are shocked at the inconsistent performances as a unit in the first two games. Canada have looked world class in stages of their first two matches holding Sri Lanka at bay for parts of their first match and staging a dramatic fight back with the ball against Zimbabwe in the second match.

Unfortunately for the Canadian?s built around these great performances has been some very ordinary cricket. The batsmen have failed to produce a performance of note as such Canada has slumped to heavy defeats. The bowling while in patches was good but the team has failed to put together 50 overs in either game.

Pakistan on the other hand is riding high. Expected to finish 3rd or 4th in the group by many pundits, the Pakistani?s knocked off Sri Lanka in Kandy last week and are sitting comfortably at first in the group, tied with defending champions Australia

Probable XI

Pakistan: 1 Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Ahmed Shehzad, 3 Kamran Akmal (wk), 4 Younis Khan, 5 sad Shafiq, 6 Umar Akmal, 7 Shahid Afridi (capt), 8 Abdul Razzaq, 9 Umar Gul, 10 Saeed Ajmal 11 Shoaib Akhtar

Canada : 1 John Davison, 2 Nitish Kumar 3 Ruvindu Gunasekara, 4 Zubin Surkari, 5 Ashish Bagai (capt and wk), 6 Rizwan Cheema, 7 Tyson Gordon, 8 Khurram Chohan, 9 Harvir Baidwan, 10 WD Balaji Rao, 11 Henry Osinde

Match 12 - Canada vs. Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe routed Canada in the second match for both teams at the 2011 Cricket World Cup in Nagpur,India.

Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first. Khurram Chohan picked up a wicket off the first ball and Harvir Baidwan followed suit as Zimbabwe were reduced to 7-2 however a Zimbabwe record for a third wicket partnership between Tatenda Taibu (98) and Craig Ervine (85) who put on 181 together took Canada out of the game.

Balaji Rao brought Canada roaring back to life finishing with 4-56 as Canada eventually restricted Zimbabwe to 298 . A great effort for Canada when a score of 320+ looked on the cards at one stage.

Rizwan Cheema (1-54), Chohan (2-44), and Baidwan (2-35) were also in the wickets for Canada.

In reply, Canada were simply routed by the Zimbabwe spin attack who accounted for all 10 wickets. As expected, Ray Price opened the bowling for Zimbabwe and sent John Davison packing for his second successive 0. Kumar and Captain Bagai soon followed and Canada were reeling at 7-3.

Unlike Zimbabwe's innings there was no record breaking stand as again none of Canada's batsmen showed the gumption to stay in and push back on a wicket that quickly favoured the spinners. Zubin Surkari (26), Ruvindu Gunasekera (24) and Jimmy Hansra (20) reached double figures for Canada. Harvir Baidwan (13*) showed some fight to stay at the wicket and Rizwan Cheema (14) gave the fans something to cheer about, hitting the only 6 of the innings for Canada.

Canada : NR Kumar, JM Davison, R Gunasekera, A Bagai*+, AS Hansra, ZE Surkari, TG Gordon, Rizwan Cheema, Khurram Chohan, HS Baidwan, WD Balaji Rao

Zimbabwe : BRM Taylor, CK Coventry, T Taibu+, CR Ervine, E Chigumbura*, SC Williams, GA Lamb, P Utseya, AG Cremer, RW Price, CB Mpofu

Canada vs. Zimbabwe Preview

Both Canada and Zimbabwe struggled through tough opening matches in the Cricket World Cup against tournament favorites. This match takes on extra significance as both teams would have circled it as a must win to make it through to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Despite the bloated score-line, Canada played good cricket in patches against Sri Lanka and will look to repeat a very tight opening 20 over spell that contained Sri Lanka?s flamboyant openers. Rizwan Cheema showed he belongs at this level hoicking what is currently the 5th biggest 6 of this tournament and has been in fine form the last few games. Holding on to some half chances will be key but the team will feel more at home in Nagpur where they played in November as part of the World Cup training camp.

2011 CWC Broadcast

Cricket Canada, on behalf of supporters of the game across the country have approached the domestic broadcaster regarding the domestic distribution of the broadcast of the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In an email to the broadcaster over the weekend, Cricket Canada encouraged them to review the pricing for the package as well as look at creative solutions for distributing Canada's matches.

A large percentage of ICC revenues are derived from the sale of worldwide broadcast rights and Cricket Canada like all members of the ICC are supported through this income. In many countries due to the financial strength of the market place and that of the broadcaster to assign or generate sponsorships and advertisement revenues, the broadcast are offered to consumers free of charge. Unfortunately in Canada, the environment to support events such as the FIFA world cup and the Olympic games exists but the ICC CWC broadcasts at the same level still needs to be explored and developed. As such Canadian cricket viewers don't have the same access to watch premier sports events as others do. This is a challenge that Cricket Canada will work to resolve in future broadcasts.

While we do not have control over the broadcaster or the pricing over the event, Cricket Canada will work diligently with the ICC and other broadcast partners to see that the rights of the cricket viewer in Canada are protected and the game is encouraged to grow. In addition as successfully exhibited through the on line live web-cast of the CT20 games from West Indies and the tri-series from Sri Lanka, Cricket Canada is determined to bring Canadian Cricket to Canadians in an ever increasing manner. More will follow in coming months as we work towards increasing the visibility of Canadian Cricket among Canadians."

Cricketers Care : New Zealand

February 22, 2011, the South Island of New Zealand was struck by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. The epicentre of the earthquake was about 10km southeast of the city of Christchurch. The earthquake has been followed by several aftershocks ranging between 4.5 to 5.7 magnitude. There is widespread damage throughout Christchurch, including collapsed buildings in the centre of the city and damage to roads and bridges.

The New Zealand Red Cross is working alongside National Authorities to meet the urgent needs of affected communities. Local Red Cross volunteers are on the ground providing first aid and distributing relief supplies. Additional Red Cross teams are expected to arrive in Christchurch in the coming days. The Red Cross has started Restoring Family Links activities and a telecommunications team is being deployed to Christchurch and will be operational tomorrow morning.

The best way Canadians can help in times of disaster is by making a financial contribution to the International Disaster Relief Fund (IDRF). The IDRF allows us to respond within hours of an emergency, well before any money has been received from supporters. It also allows us to implement disaster preparedness programs to create stronger and more resilient communities.

Cricket Canada has had a special relationship with New Zealand over the past several years, and is hopeful that our members who can give, will take a moment to help the people of Christchurch.

Canada vs. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has defeated Canada handily in the opening match for both teams at the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Bowling first, Canada had Sri Lanka behind the 8 ball early on but a partnership between two of the world's top batsmen Kumar Sangakkara (99) and Mahela Jayawardene (100) who shared a 179 run partnership to set up the big total for the Sri Lankans.

In reply, Canada's opening woe's continued as they soon find themselves down 3 wickets for a mere 12 runs. While Ashish Bagai (22) and Rizwan Cheema (37) tried to pull Canada back into the match, Sri Lanka's total was too large to chase and Canada were bundled out for 122. Canada vs. Sri Lanka - Preview

Hambantota, Sri Lanka - February 20, 2011

The Cricket World Cup moves into its second day with two matches scheduled. In Hambantota, hosts Sri Lanka take on Canada in what is expected to be a packed house in this small town in the south of the country.

The Story:

Sri Lanka shocked the world in 1996 to win the World Cup and have not looked back. They are one of the most disciplined and drilled teams in the world and will look to this as loosen-er before tougher competition against the likes of defending champions Australia. That said, every world cup has produced an upset and the hosts will be playing with the extra pressure of opening a new stadium in front of a boisterous home crowd who harbour high expectations of joining Australia and West Indies as the only multiple champions in world cup history.

Cricket Canada Statement on Domestic Broadcast

As was reported in several media outlets on Tuesday, Canadian cricket fans are disappointed at the high cost for viewers in Canada to watch the 2011 Cricket World Cup. While Cricket Canada has no control over the pricing of the event, or share in the profits for such an event, we do share the concern of many supporters of the game about the accessibility and availability of events such as the Cricket World Cup in Canada. Cricket Canada has strived to develop partnerships with like-minded parties in the broadcast world to help deliver the game to Canadians.

It is our hope that in the future we will be part of the dialog when rights are awarded in the future. It is our firm belief that world cricket's strategic thinking should include working with associate countries to develop additional revenue streams through domestic broadcast rights of major events.

While we understand the sacrifice that many will be making in these tough economic times, we encourage those who are able to, to tune in and support team Canada at the cricket world cup. We also strongly urge the pricing to be reviewed for the 2011 Cricket World Cup so that more Canadian's of all ages can take in the sports greatest spectacle.

Canada vs. England - Cheema and Chohan Star in Loss

Rizwan Cheema gave England a massive scare in their opening World Cup warm-up match against Canada, as he blazed 93 from 70 balls from No. 7 to give life to a faltering run-chase at Fatullah and raise the very real prospect of an embarrassing upset.

However, five wickets for Stuart Broad on his return to competitive action, allied to a greater knowhow at the death, enabled England to defend their middling total of 243 despite being outgunned on the boundary count. Having recovered from 28 for 5 inside the eighth over, Canada's challenge finally ended on 227, with 23 balls left unused.

Canada Departs on World Cup Journey

Cricket Canada's Men's team left for the 2011 Cricket World Cup Wednesday. The team travels to Dubai for a 10 day training camp and then onto the Cricket World Cup starting in Bangladesh. In Dubai Canada will play warm-up matches against The Netherlands and Afghanistan before taking on Bangladesh and England in Bangladesh. The tournament gets underway in earnest for the Canadian Team on February 20th against Sri Lanka.

While the team leaves under a sense of optimism of a best ever performance at the world cup, 3 players have not yet been granted visa's to enter India. Vice Captain, Rizwan Cheema, Khurram Chohan and Hamza Tariq have not received visas for travel to India. Cricket Canada this week, had stepped up its efforts to have the visa's issued before the team left for Dubai. Canada won the toss and batted first hoping to replicate their success from the first match of the tournament. After the loss of Hiral Patel (7), Ruvindu Gunasekera (39) and Zubin Surkari (42) built Canada to a fighting total but the loss of Rizwan Cheema (12) ,after hitting a massive six to bring the crowd to their feet ,and Ashish Bagai (6) in the latter overs set Canada back. A late rally in the final over carried Canada to 128-5.

As they did in the previous game, Canada`s bowlers dominated the middle overs not letting T&T capitalize on a good start. Balaji Rao took 2-24 as Canada looked poised for a second straight upset. needing 10 off the last over, T&T scampered for 2 on the last ball to scrape by.

The tournament now moves to Barbados to conclude the preliminary round as well as the semi-finals and finals.

Canada's Carribean party gets underway with win over Hampshire

Canada has completed a comprehensive win over Hampshire in their opening match of the CT20 tournament. The match, covered live across the country on CBCsports was Canada's first win of the tournament and first ever at the CT20 tournament. Hampshire are the reigning Friends Provident T20 league champions from the ECB's domestic competition.

Batting first Canada squandered a hot start from Ruvindu Gunasekera (29) and used a late flourish from Rizwan Cheema 31 to post a total of 129. While Canada would have expected more the total was a defend-able one and Canada were encouraged by Jamaica defending a small total on Tuesday.

A little slip up in the first few overs with some drop catches would not deter the Canadians however as sharp fielding and great bowling from Parth Desai (2-15), Cheema (2-27), Jimmy Hansra (1-14) and Harvir Baidwan (1-21) ensured that Hampshire never got close, as they closed at 106-8.

For his efforts, Parth Desai was named the man of the match.

The two teams have met only once before over 100 years ago in a match that was drawn.

Apollo Convention Centres of GTA have partnered with Cricket Canada and WICB to bring all the matches live to Canadians live on cbcsports.ca

Cricket Canada Flies High on Etihad Deal

Cricket Canada and Abu Dhabi Based Etihad Airways; have announced a partnership agreement. Through the agreement Etihad will become an official event partner and national program sponsor with Cricket Canada.

Shortly after signing the agreement in Toronto, Cricket Canada president Ranjit Saini spoke about the historic agreement.

"Cricket Canada welcomes Etihad Airways as an important partner in our development as a premiere cricket nation. This partnership will remove cost barriers for our youth to access high quality academies worldwide. Additionally our teams will be within reach of premiere cricket destinations where we can play against high quality opposition and receive high performance coaching"

Saini also spoke about Canada?s unique challenges in breaking onto the world cricket stage.

"The partnership with Etihad Airways helps us to remove the financial obstacles created by geographic challenges. We can now move our teams around the world more frequently and at a reduced cost. We can more readily explore the growing options to bring quality international and domestic fixtures to Canada and it gives us the opportunity to extend the reach of our high performance program while strengthening our international board relationships...a win-win situation for us."

Saini continued.

"While we should commend the achievements made in the past few years by our High Performance program to take us as far as we've come, we are under-resourced for a nation of our size and cricket population. This program ensures that players such as Rustam (Bhatti), Manny (Aulakh), Waleed (Ahmad) and others will be able to further hone their skills in the time between youth programs and when they reach the senior men's team. "

The agreement is inclusive of all Cricket Canada's events and is also targeted towards Canada's Development Squad. Through the deal, Etihad will provide Cricket Canada with round trip airfare for Canada?s elite development players to academies and coaching programs around the world as well as provide a significant capital contribution towards bringing high performance teams to Canada.

Etihad is the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates. The airline has experienced significant growth in recent years and has moved into significant corporate sponsorships world wide. Cricket Canada joins Manchester City Football Club, The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, as part of the stable of sports properties sponsored by Etihad.

Justin Gosling, Etihad?s country manager for Canada was pleased to join forces with Cricket Canada.

"Etihad Airways is thrilled and honoured to team up with Cricket Canada and to support this exciting team in their 2011 season.

Not only do we share many common formulas, like teamwork, dedication and determination but also one main goal; to be the best we can, so this is a great opportunity to team up with Cricket Canada now and for the future and together we will show the world our winning spirit "

The agreement with Etihad is the third major partnership announced by Cricket Canada this quarter. Earlier in November Cricket Canada inked deals with Mercury Communications Group and clothing giant Reebok

Canada will carry the Etihad name at the upcoming Caribbean T20 tournament in January.

We've found the right mix of youth and experience and also shown that players can now come up through our system and achieve at the highest levels. Our last tour reaffirmed that as we saw our top young players make their mark with the senior team. We are confident that Canadians will be proud of what we have achieved and excited by the brand of cricket that we put on the field."

Canada vs. Chhattisgarh

A depleted Canadian side dropped its second straight match to a spirited Chhattissgargh team by 34 runs on Tuesday.

Canada hs been without the services of skipper Ashish Bagai as he recovers from an ankle injury sustained earlier in the tour, hard hitting opening batsmen Rizwan Cheema (Visa), and key members of the seam bowling attack in Khurram Chohan (VIsa) and Umar Bhatti (Knee).

Harvir Baidwan (4-53) and Hiral Patel (107 from 113 balls) led the way for Canada in this high scoring affair.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Chhattissgarh ammased a heafty 331 for 8 in 50 overs behind a spectacular innings by MP state and Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen Harpreet Singh. The stylish and hard hitting left hander batted superbly knocking 122 runs from 170 balls including 12 fours, and 2 sixes, building a key partnership with Prakar Roy (62).

Hiral Patel (107 from 113 balls) led the Canadian reply scoring his maiden century and dominated Chhattisgarh bowlers to the delight of the crowd that grew as the match progressed. Key batting contributions from Tyson Gordon (33) and Karl Watham (40*) put Canada within reach, however the dwindling light of the early Raipur evening made the conditions difficult and in the end, the boys in red fell 34 runs short of the target.

Canadian coach Pubudu Dassanayke was upbeat about the performance of his young side.

"Of course we'd like to have won our first two matches here in Raipur, but we're seeing some excellent competition for the vacant spots on the world cup roster. We've had centuries from both Hiral (Patel) and Ruvindu (Gunasekera) who were both key members of Canada's 2010 u19 CWC squad, and a couple of solid innings from Nitish (Kumar)."

Dassanayke continued

"It has been a challenge in these conditions where very little assitance is offered to the bowlers. This is what we will face in the World Cup, and we're making good progress match by match."

The Canadian's will complete their stay in Raipur with a match on the 25th before for heading to Nagpur for the next leg of the training tour.

Hiral Patel (2-15), Akshay Bagai (2-40) and Balaji Rao (2-40) picked up a pair of wickets each and the fielders accounted for a pair of run outs as Canada picked up 9 Delhi wickets before the hosts slipped by in the penultimate over.

Bagai calls for Canadians to get behind the team

Stars from the four Associate teams competing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 have called upon their fans to show their support by sending in good luck messages that will be posted on the dressing room walls of their favourite teams at the tournament.

Canada's Ashish Bagai has called upon Canadian fans across the world to back his side in its efforts to make the quarter-finals of the event.

?To represent your country in an ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the biggest honours you can achieve as an international cricketer,? said Bagai.

?I would appeal to all Canadians and supporters of Cricket Canada to get behind the team and let their support be shown in their messages. There is nothing more inspiring than leading the team onto the field with the support of the nation behind you.? Repeating the concept that proved to be very popular with players and supporters at the ICC World Twenty20 2010, fans are being asked to come up with words that will inspire their teams to glory when the event begins on 19 February next year.

Lara - ICC's Decision Tough on Associates

The ICC decision to reduce the 2015 Cricket World Cup to 10 teams has hit several associates hard and while there is not offical word from the ICC on what the path forward for the Associates is, there is concern from many corners that this may be a serious blow for Associate Cricket.

The ICC has asked its governing council to examine the issue of qualification for ICC global events, as well as opportunities for Associate members to play ODIs, and make recommendations to the board.

One of the games greats Brian Lara weighed in on the discussion from Bermuda, his sentiments were echoed in Canada by CEO Chandra GoCool.

World Cup Memories - Canada defeats Bangladesh

Nearly 8 years after defeating Bangladesh in one of this countries proudest sporting moments, Canada will take on Sri Lanka at Hambantota. On that cool evening in Durban, Wisden captured the shocking story as it happened. Watch the video of the final moments of the match on www.gocricketgocanada.com

Nearly four years after tearing up the World Cup form-book against Pakistan at Northampton, Bangladesh were themselves humbled by a Canadian side playing their first full international since 1979 and containing players born in eight different countries.

Canada's hero was Austin Codrington, a 27-year-old apprentice plumber from Jamaica with flopping dreadlocks and an open-chested action, who unplugged the Bangladeshi batting with his wobbly medium-pace. His five for 27 was the third-best by a player on one-day international debut (behind Tony Dodemaide of Australia with five for 21 against Sri Lanka in 1987-88 and S. H. U. Karnain of Sri Lanka with five for 26 against New Zealand in 1983-84).

At 106 for four in the 21st over, Bangladesh were on course, only for the last six wickets to tumble for 14 in 44 balls amid a flurry of panicky strokes. The Canadians, keen as mustard, celebrated each wicket with disbelieving leaps and hugs; the Bangladeshis, who had won none of their 43 Tests and one-day internationals since Northampton, simply looked stunned.

Back in Canada, people were stunned as well, and the two national papers - the National Post and the Globe and Mail - made the result front-page news. After choosing to bat, Canada were given a decent start thanks to a clumping cameo from the St Kitts-born David Chumney, and a more patient 42 from Ian Billcliff, raised in New Zealand and the scorer of a first-class century for Otago. But from 70 for two, the innings petered out, and only a last-wicket stand of 21 lifted them to 180. It should not have been enough.

Man of the Match: A. Codrington. Attendance: 10,482.

World Cup Memories - Canada Shocks The World

Soon to take the field in his first World Cup ODI as skipper, Ashish Bagai played a part in one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport.

Cricinfo captured the excitement as it happened in Durban on a warm night in February 2003.

Often a contest between two equally matched minnows proves as fascinating and surprising as one between the top two teams in the world, and the Bangladesh-Canada Pool B encounter at Kingsmead on Tuesday proved that truism only too well.

On the face of it, Bangladesh, with a few years of international experience and a recent World Cup under their belt, would have certainly been considered favourites. Canada, after all, had last been in international cricket in the 1979 World Cup, and with Bangladesh having played in South Africa only recently, the sensible money would certainly have been on them.

Video Highlights coming soon.
