Club Delegate's Meeting
The BCMCL delegates meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov 26 2008, in Brockton Clubhouse at 6:30 PM. The 7 members for the management committee will come up for election at the meeting.

Membership Application Reminder
All current, new and returning clubs are reminded that the application and the dues must be received by the Secretary on or before the 1st of December, for consideration for membership from January 1st to December 31st 2009. Please contact the League Secretary at secretary@bcmcl.ca for any questions or concerns.

The BCMCL Elects New Executive Committee
The Annual General Meeting of the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League was held on November 4, 2008. Thanks to everyone who attended this meeting. The following members were elected as the Executive Committee:

President - Vimal Hardat (1 year)
1st Vice President - Inamul Desai (2 years)
2nd Vice President - Jim Richards (1 year)
Treasurer - Mahbubul Islam (2 years)
Secretary - Adnan Ali (2 years)

Thanks to Ateeq Khan (out going treasurer), Wasim Khan ( out going 1st VP) and Muhammad Ashraf (out going secretary) for their hard work during their tenure.

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League will be held on November 4, 2008; 7 p.m., at Brockton Clubhouse. Registration will commence at 6:00 p.m. To register, photo identification, i.e., current passport, driver's license, school ID card, or other official document providing photo identification must be presented. The positions that are coming up for elections are: President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Proposed Amendment to BCMCL Constitution
In accordance to 61 (2), Ashraf was given a notice of resolution proposing an amendment in the BCMCL constitution on October 01, 2008. The committee brought this up with the delegates in the meeting on October 16, 2008 and the delegates unanimously supported the decision and it will be one of the agendas at the coming up AGM on November 04, 2008.
The proposal is to change the voting system at the General Meetings.

OBITUARY - Mrs. Charanjeet Kaur Bawa
We deeply regret to inform that Mrs. Charanjeet Kaur Bawa, mother of Vikramjit Singh Bawa of North Shore Cricket Club passed away in Patiala, India.
We ask you to pray, so that the Bawa family has the strength to face this trying time. We express our sincerest condolences.

Club Delegate's Meeting
The club delegate's meeting will take place October 16, 2008 at Brockton Clubhouse starting at 6:30pm.

Grand Finale Club Six-A-Side
The BCMCL will be celebrating its successful season 2008 with 'Grand Finale Club Six-A-Side' tournament which will take place at CFV Exhibition on Monday, October 13th, 2008. There will be prize money with winners getting $1100 and runners-up $600. Best batsman, bowler, all rounder and most sixes will get prize money as well.

BCMCL Premier Division Champs - Pakcan
BCMCL had its Premier Division Play-off finals on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Upper Brockton between Pakcan and Abbotsford.
The new boys Abbotsford had a fairytale season with reaching the finals of the play-offs in their first season at the top level. It was a good final that saw both teams fight it out but Pakcan led by Baber Javed came on top and won the final with their experience and Baber's captaincy.
Good Luck to Pakcan to be the BC Champions.

BC Juniors at National U-19
We would like to congratulate the Under 19 squad for being the runners up in Winnepeg for the National Tournament.

Junior Coaching
BCMCL will be providing junior coaching and practices at Sullivan Heights on every Thursday at 3:00pm. Such practice sessions will develop our kids in the game of cricket and prepare for upcoming junior Twenty20 tournament. For the first time ever, BCMCL will stage a junior Twenty-20 tournament within next few weeks. Please contact Ashraf at 778-896-2443 and Sajid at 604-562-7831 for details.

Junior Six-A-Side
BCMCL held its historical Junior six-a-side with weather not in cricket's favor. Despite of the rain it did not stop our talented juniors from having a great tournament at the Stanley Park. We saw some great display of hard hitting and sensible bowling from the BCMCL juniors. We would like to thank Salim Mohammad and Hardeep Ghuman for organizing the event with such success. Special thanks to Jim Richards and Mumtaz Khan for their involvement in scoring and umpiring.
Abbotsford Juniors were the Champions and West Vancouver Juniors were the runners up. Sunny Gainder was the best batsman and Satnam Randhawa had the highest number of sixes.

Use Of Parks
The Parks Board is committed to providing the cricketers of Lower Mainland with quality park and recreational opportunities in a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment. To fulfill this commitment they have instilled a lot of faith in the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League who have further given this ground to its responsible members. The Code simply requires that members of the BCMCL must conduct themselves in a rational and reasonable manner, in accordance with the rules and regulations established by the Park Board of each municipality. We play cricket that is quite rightly called a gentleman's game and we should be very careful in maintaining the trust that the Parks board of different municipality has kept with the BCMCL for almost 100 years.

Dress Code Reminder
Reminder: Governing Rule No.37 states that "All players must wear white or cream coloured clothing including a shirt with a collar and long pants. Players who do not comply with this rule will not be allowed to play in the match." Umpires will be reinforcing this rule.

Cricket Ground Usage
Clubs are reminded that the use of grounds for games or practices is not permitted without a permit from the issuing authority. Other sports groups also have permits and municipalities are extremely unhappy when conflict arises. Please treat this as an important issue.
