Toronto, ON – April 21, 2003 – Following their successful launch in April of 2002, Cricketstar.net, has announced it has signed two new contracts for the 2003 season with cricket leagues in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA): Etobicoke & District Cricket League and Commonwealth Cricket Association. In addition to that, Cricketstar.net is involved in negotiations with several other leagues across the country.

Cricketstar.net, the online league administration, and statistical result management system was launched with the Toronto & District Cricket Association, North Americas largest league in 2002. At the time many question whether they would hit a six with the online service or get bowled for a duck. “Launching with the T&DCA, was a big plus, and a real test of the capabilities and features offered”, said Simpson. Aside from normal learning curve associated with implementations of this nature, there were no major problems with the. We are also now providing the service of schedule generation for leagues that do not want to commit to the full league administration and statistical functions. The benefits of the internet are such that players and supporters can follow their favorite teams around the world, now they can also do that locally with the same completeness and consistency in the data. Additionally their friends and families can now follow their performance from any where around the world. With the signing of these new contracts an additional 1,200-1,500 local players in the GTA will have their individual performance track online. Together with the T&DCA, this brings the total to some 3,000 players.

The primary focus over the past year has been cricket leagues in Ontario and Canada, however we are starting to push out ward. The Caribbean is a sea of opportunities. Leagues, Associations and Clubs now have the ability to easily record their entire history creating a wealth of statistical data on player’s career performances including partnership records, batting and bowling performances. CricketStar.Net enables associations to generate schedules and league standings with just a few mouse clicks and in just a few seconds. CricketStar.Net also includes a unique search function to easily find results for any participating club or association.
